It was a quiet weekend for my boyfriend and I. The start to it however, was anything but: every year my employers participate in Sutter Health's Catwalk for a Cure fashion show. We sponsor several models by styling outfits. This was the second fashion show where I had styled participating models, and I've been lucky enough to attend the shows that I have styled.
The fashion "scene" can be very self involved, but trust me when I say that there is nothing that brings me crashing back to reality than a fashion show full of cancer survivors. The life energy and the celebration of being alive was certainly felt that day.
Speaking of the celebration of being alive, did anyone see Gravity this weekend? I'm not much of a movie goer: I can hardly sit still long enough for them. Gravity turned out to be the most perfect movie I have seen in a long time. I found that I could relate to it in such a profound way that I almost didn't react: It just settled in my bones. I could relate to the desire to give in, or to give up. Metaphorically speaking, it's easy to feel as though you are alone, spinning out of control in space, where no one can hear you scream. I loved this films' testament to human endurance, and the inner strength that we all possess in one way or another. As Clooney's character said "You have to learn to let go." If you get the chance to see it, you should!! (Be sure to see it in 3D!)
