So, you’ve graduated and have that wonderful qualification behind you, but now what? You may have a great resume and that impressive education but how can you actually get your foot in the door? Well we have some words of wisdom for you that will hopefully get you on the right career path with an entry level job you’ll be happy with.

You Are Not Your Resume

One of the first things to remember is that your resume is not a reflection of you as a person, it gives your future employer a summary of your education and past achievements. However, it does not define you or your future career. This is where the interview stage for an entry level job is so important and is really your chance to shine through.

At an interview make sure you look professional but try also not to be too formal, unless the career specifically demands it. Your potential employer doesn’t just want your history they want to know you. Being able to do the job is great but knowing that you can get on with people and listen well is what they’ll be looking for and something that can really get you noticed. Why an Entry Level Job?

Entry level jobs are the best thing to aim for once you are graduated, by looking at lower level work you will simply be setting yourself back. Why undo all that hard work? If you wanted to work as a sales rep or taking orders in a fast food joint then you wouldn’t have gone to the trouble of getting a great education.

You need to have that feminine confidence to know that you can and will make it. By getting an entry level job you’ll not only boost your career but your confidence as well. This means you’ll see better career opportunities open up to you faster than if you had taken a slower and much harder route.

Which Entry Level Jobs are the Best?

This is a tricky question but it’s also one that you can answer by looking at yourself and your skills. Yes you’ll have to take your educational history into account. But do not forget the girl inside, got great organization and people skills? Then look into teaching! Are you someone who thinks logically and loves IT? Consider web design or development. You can take basic outline for your teaching plan by reading books like Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design and Web Premium All-in-One For Dummies.

If you’ve got a way with words then marketing or real estate could be right up your alley! Make sure to give it your all and you’ll find something in no time. Remember to be the best you can be and you’ll get the entry level job and career you’ve been seeking.
