I have been a member of Lifetime Fitness for almost 7 years, the locations always worked well for where I was living/working and I felt like it was my only option. Since we are hoping to move soon there may not be a Lifetime close to where I live. I had to actually think about changing gyms! While it made me kind of sad to be leaving the gym I had a long time relationship with, I realized I would end up saving A LOT of money.
What I loved about Lifetime:
- Large, updated gyms
- Variety of equipment
- Nice locker rooms
- The clubs were always very clean and updated
What I never used at Lifetime:
- Classes. I just never got into the classes at Lifetime, they never had Bodypump and their yoga classes were not the style I was looking for
- Hot Tub, Sauna or Pool
- Personal Training
I took a step back and looked at what I was using, cardio equipment and weights and realized I could join a smaller gym and use those same things and save almost $75 a month. I looked at a few options and looked into the program offered by my health insurance. For $25 a month I could join Anytime Fitness and use any of their locations. I will still have my membership at Corepower because I cannot picture my workouts without yoga sculpt!
My new plan for June:
Sunday: Cardio and Weights at Anytime Fitness
Monday: Off
Tuesday: Yoga Sculpt
Wednesday: Cardio and Weights
Thursday: Yoga Sculpt
Friday: Off
Saturday: Yoga or Cardio/Weights
There are also a few fitness studios near our new place that I will check out and decide if I want to join a place that focuses on classes. Even if I decide to join a studio, I will still be paying less than the price of my Lifetime membership. What will end up being a big change for me is where I get ready. For the past year I lived a block from yoga and 1/2 mile from the gym, I would go workout and then head home to shower. I will be getting ready at yoga and am deciding what to do about my Wednesday workout. Unfortunately, Anytime really doesn’t have a big locker room, the one near work only has 2 showers total and no area to really get ready. So I may get up at 5, workout at a Anytime, head home and shower and then drive to work. It is all about figuring out the plan that will work best to ensure I am getting my workouts in every week. I am commuted to working out and leading the healthiest life I can.
