Fit & Fashionable Friday: How to Start a Soup Club

By Fitfulfocus @fitfulfocus

Hello from Texas! I’ll be away until the next Fit & Fashionable Friday comes around, but some amazing gals will be taking over the blog while I’m away. I’m pumped to introduce you to some of my blogger friends – I just know you’ll love ‘em and follow them and become their biggest fans! First up is Deborah!

Deborah is the genius behind Confessions of a Mother Runner. She’s also the host of the Meatless Monday link up and creates the most mouth watering vegetarian recipes. On top of being a whiz in the kitchen, she’s a badass triathlete, running coach and mom of two. Serious rock star status. Take it away Deborah!

Happy Friday, Fit & Fashionable friends! I am excited to be guest hosting today’s link up for Nicole while she is on vacation.

I am really excited to share something fun with you today. A few days ago I started a Soup Club and it was just fabulous.

What’s a Soup Club?

A Soup Club is a group of friends who each create a big pot of soup to share with the others in the group. All members then swap soups and take home a container of each other member’s soup. Each person then leaves with 4 other soups to freeze and use.

How great does that sound?

How to start a Soup Club:

  • Gather a group of friends who like to cook (I suggest starting with a max. of 10)
  • Check for any food allergies & alert the other members
  • Form groups of no more than 5 (we did one vegetarian & one meat eating group)
  • Establish guidelines for storing: We all used 2 quart disposable containers
  • Pick a date & time to exchange
  • Include and ingredient and instruction sheet
  • Enjoy all of your soups!

I made my Veggie Tortilla Soup with homemade corn tortilla chips. You can find the recipe here.

So far I’ve gotten great feedback from the other members and everyone is up for doing again once a month. As it becomes colder we look forward to mixing it up with heavier soups, stews and chilis.

We all want to eat healthy but don’t always have the time to make dinner every night. This is a huge time saver and a great way to learn new recipes.

It’s fit… It’s fashionable! All the cool kids are doing it. Think you might start your own Soup Club?
