First Look: Launch of Givenchy’s Le Rouge-A-Porter with Swatches + Givenchy Le Rouge Swatches

I’ve become somewhat addicted to swatching lately – the big mess and major usage of tissue/cleansing wipes aside, I actually find myself searching online for color swatches to aid me in my purchase decisions. And hey, since I set up this blog with the purpose of being a useful blog, I’ve decided that I should do the same thing to help others too (and especially so that they don’t fall into the death trap of I-Must-Buy-Everything that I currently am in) :D

Last night, I attended the launch of Givenchy’s new Le Rouge-A-Porter lipsticks – they’re a slimmer, more hydrating and reformulated version of their existing Le Rouge. Since the Le Rouge lippies were there on display (innocently sitting in a corner), I (and my insane hyena pack of fellow swatch maniacs consisting of Musicalhouses and Paradeoflove) took the opportunity to swoop in and swatch them alllll.

Now I’d initially thought they were categorised by numbers (i.e. 1 is for the nudes, 2 is for the pinks and 3 for the reds), but after trying them out, I have come to the conclusion that there’s no system. Anyhoos, just check them out :)

First impressions: Intense, highly pigmented creamy lip colours.  I tried 205 Fuchsia Essentielle on my lips last night and I’m loving it! Le Rouge lippies actually stay on pretty well (no smudging or staining of the wine glass), and no settling into the fine lines of the lips too. -nod of approval-

But enough of that – it was time to check out the star of the evening, which is the Le Rouge-A-Porter.

First impressions: Glossy, hydrating and moisturising lipstick-lip balm hybrid. To get the colours in the above photos, I had to apply quite a number of layers. That aside, it doesn’t feel too heavy on the lips, and are non-sticky too. I also love that it helped to soothe the dry lips. Perfect for a natural flush on the lips and for day-time use. For night-time, it is buildable into a slightly more intense color but I’d honestly still opt for Le Rouge because one layer is all I need to get the color I need. Packaging-wise, this is a slimmer, taller and sexier version of the Le Rouge. It’s still encased in that black sexy leather-coated casting.
