Rimmel is a very hit and miss brand for me. But when I spotted these shadows on the bottom shelf at Walgreens, I had to have them. My beauty blogger radar went crazy because I haven't heard a word about them. I am assuming they are a revamped version of their old Glam Eyes Mono Eyeshadow. I think I had a couple of them and they needed a makeover. I am not 100% sure of this theory since I can't find them on their website.
Anywho, I only saw three shades: Poser, Millionaire, and VIP Pass. I am going to go through my first impressions of each individual shade since my opinions slightly vary depending on the color.
Poser is a very light baby pink. I wouldn't say this is a shimmer eyeshadow, but it does have a pearly sheen. This shade is so light that it barely even shows up. It is also very powdery. Not in the sense that it kicks up a lot of product, but just the way it feels. It is The only way I can really use this shade is as an inner corner or brow bone highlight. It almost too subtle to be used for anything else.
Millionaire is a shimmery, medium toned warm brown. I did have to layer this one a little bit. It is lighter than I expected, but it does look pretty blended into the crease for a natural look. Fortunately, it lacks the powdery feel of Poser. However, it is a little dense and not quite as buttery as I like my shadows to be. I didn't have any issues blending it out, though. The only downside of this shade is the sheerness, but it can be built up.
VIP Pass is a darker, warm toned brown. In regards to pigment, this shade is the best. I still had to build it up on my eyes a little bit, but not as much as Millionaire. The only problem I have with VIP Pass is that is harder to blend out. It has a nicer texture than Poser and Millionaire because it isn't powdery, but it isn't as dense, either. I have also found that the formula improves as the top layer is worn away.
These shadows were less than $4 and as of now, I have only seen them at Walgreens. I can use them, but I am not a fan. The new L'Oreal Mono Eyeshadows are far superior in every way if you are looking for drugstore single shadows. I will say that the staying power of Rimmel's Magnif'Eyes Mono Eyeshadows is pretty good. They didn't fade, but I did notice some slight creasing.
I will say that the packaging is really cute. It is simple, but also eye-catching. It is made out of sturdy plastic and you can see the eyeshadow through the lid.
