February Julep Maven Box - Unwrapped!

By Makeupguineapig @MakeUpGuineaPig
Somehow I managed to miss the email about February's Julep Maven Box and didn't really give it a thought until it showed up in the mail! I probably would have opted for it anyway since I was really curious about an extra item they mentioned would be included in advance, but more about that later. This month says, "Get on the A-list with our Glamour Collection." I believe the polishes were all named after well known actresses to keep with that theme. Since it showed up, I thought I'd share it's contents with all of you!!! Keep reading to see what beauties were in February's "glamorous" It Girl Julep Maven Box, and to become a Julep Maven yourself, click here.

I'll start with the most obvious item that was actually the item Julep mentioned in advance. It is the Freedom Polymer Top Coat. The box says that it "Goes on like a polish, performs like a gel." It is supposed to have the dry time and durability of a gel, while still drying in natural light and removing with regular polish remover. Sounds really intriguing to me, but who knows if it will live up to its claim!

Onto the colors! The first polish is called "Rebel," inspired by Rebel Wilson who is a Broadcast Film Critics Association Awards Nominee for the film Pitch Perfect. It is a silver holographic polish and I love holographic polishes!!! Unfortunately, I already have "Dodgy Barnett" from Butter London which is also a silver holographic polish. It will be fun to compare the two, but it doesn't look too different in the bottle. Holos never look very exciting in the bottle and are hard to photograph well, but they are really fascinating in person. I'd definitely try one out if you ever happen upon one! Holographic polishes are always fun! :)

The next shade is one that I really love the looks of. It's called "Marion" and was inspired by Marion Cotillard. She is a Golden Globe Nominee for Rust and Bone. The polish is a beautiful deep almost teal blue with lots of little silver shimmers. Maybe it's more of a peacock blue. Whatever you call it, it's beautiful! I would have been tempted to get the box just for this color! :)

Finally, there is "Joan" named for Joan Crawford, Academy Award Winner for the 1945 film, Mildred Pierce. "Joan" is a beautiful rich raspberry filled with medium-sized gold glittery-shimmers. It's almost more like golden flakes. Again, however you want to describe it, it's stunning and I'm really curious how this looks on the nails!!! :)

As if these beautiful ladies were not enough, Julep included one of those compact eyelash curlers, which I've never tried before, so that's exciting.

And to keep your taste buds happy while painting your nails, there are a couple of chocolate hearts. I'm really glad to have gotten this box because the colors look really stunning in person. Just looking at the photos online, I'm not sure I would have opted for the box, but they are so so beautiful in person! There is another shade, "Ginger" which is described as a sand colored holographic, that I wish I could have added on to this box and may just have to order all by itself! Well done for February, Julep!!! :)
