February 2017 Favorites

Today starts my Spring Break where I will return home and do what I do at school: nothing. Just kidding, I do homework and stuff at school. It is really funny actually because I had photo assignments due on the first of March, it was like the 26th, and I was like, "yes! I have plenty of time to do them. Little did I remember February had 28 days. So you can imagine how that played out.

MAKEUP.

I made a mistake towards the middle of the month when I left my foundations at home. I was pretty chill about it because I was like, "I'll be back in two weeks." In that time I wore no makeup except for mascara, two days out of the fourteen days. In that time, I was thrown off my groove and was sent into a portal of makeup naivety. So this month, I wanted to highlight was my foundation ("you don't know how good you have it until it is gone" — Ken Bone). I have been using the Loreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation in 108, or Caramel Beige. If you read my Laila Notes II, you would know my skin type changed from dry to oily/combination. What I like about this is that it stays on for the entire day and keeps my skin matte, except for my nose, where I need to touch up during the day.
Another goodie would be my NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien. It is a lovely dusty rose color, mentioned before in my Dusty Rose post, that can be mistaken for a nude. I love it because I don't need makeup to wear it, it is pretty natural looking, and it has a satin-finish. Satin is very nice because it doesn't dry your lips and it has some light reflective properties.

SKINCARE.

Like I mentioned before, my skin-type changed to oily-combination. So I had to put away my Clinique Dramatically Different Lotion during the day and opt for something lighter. I have been using my Cosrx Natural BHA Skin Returning Emulsion every morning. It is really refreshing after washing my face in the morning, it is very light, and it moisturizes pretty well. It is really nice on its own, but when I am wearing makeup, I have to apply an actual moisturizer.

BOOKS.VIDEO GAMES. MOVIES. MUSIC.

I read/listened to a few books this month. I read Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro for one of my classes and I really did not think it would make me feel as it did. I don't want to talk too much about it, but it made me sad, lol. It was a good book. I also listened to Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari on Audible. It was fantastic! I love how Aziz wrote this book as a study, not a typical autobiography done by celebrities who get a book deal. The book talks about how romance has changed since our parent's eras and now, with technology and social fluidity. A plus is that Aziz narrates the entire book and gives his comedic spin. Finally, I have been doing this for awhile, but every morning I read the New York Times Daily Newsletter: Morning Briefing. It is a newsletter that basically condenses down the most important news of a day in a small email you get six times a week. Super easy to read. I don't think you need a subscription to read it, but I have one and I highly suggest it.
I finished a video game...again. I played Super Mario Sunshine on the Gamecube. It is basically the same Mario storyline with a twist. Mario goes to an island for a vacation with Peach, however [surprise...surpise] she gets captured. It is up to Mario and a robotic backpack that sprays water to save her. It is really fun to be quite honest. I think I find the cleaning aspect is what I like the most, when I spray water to clean up "goop," I find that relaxing.
For movies, I watched 5 Centimeters Per Second, which follows the story of Takaki Tōno and his crush, Akari Shinohara. It basically highlights the struggle of long-distance relationships. It starts in the 1990s when cell phones were not a thing up-and-till the late 2000s when cell phones were becoming prominent. This movie is beautifully animated and it will leave you feeling a certain way. It is such a well put-together film, I highly suggest it.
Finally, for music, you can check out my February Playlist // 2017. However, two highlights were defintiley "Rookie" by Red Velvet and "Spring Day" by BTS. I enjoyed both very much, however for BTS, I am gonna say this... Jin missed his graduation and he still did not get as many lines as he deserved. Sorry, I am a bit upset about that.
I wish did favorites more often because they are actually my favorite types of posts/videos (pun not intended). If you enjoyed this post, please share on social media and tell me in the comments below what your Feburary Favorites are.
Happy Tuesday ^_^
