If you're anything like me, the cooler fall and winter weather can sometimes wreak havoc on my skin and dry out my lips due to the lack of moisture in the air. I find myself constantly applying lip balm and gloss to keep my lips to keep them hydrated. One of the key factors in preventing dry, chapped or even cracked lips is to regularly exfoliate your lips. Skinn's Sugar Lips Polishing Lip Scrub for dry and lined lips is a great tool for keeping your lips exfoliated and pucker-ready.
I was really anxious to try the Sugar Lips Polishing Scrub. The lip scrub contains key natural ingredients such as jojoba oil, hemp seed oil, mango butter, Shea butter, aloe leaf extract, coconut oil, olive fruit oil, sunflower seed oil, vitamin E, and argan oil. All of these oils are highly moisturizing and effecting in treating dry skin.
Fragrance & Consistency
The fragrance is light, sweet and fruity. It somewhat reminds me of a mild Bubble Yum bubble gum flavor, very yummy! The scrub comes in a bright pink color, and contains a decent amount of sugar granules that actually provide a scrubbing effect for the lips.
Directions
According to the package directions, you should apply the lip scrub to dry lips and gently massage in a circular motion. Rinse with warm water and pat dry. Follow up with your favorite lip treatment. Recommended usage of twice per week, or as needed.
Using the Product Effectively
I discovered that the lip scrub works best for me right after showering. I apply a small amount to my lips in a circular motion for about 40 seconds. Then, I use a warm, wet wash towel to remove in a circular motion. Next, I'll splash water on my lips to remove any leftover sugar granules and apply a lip balm or lip gloss to seal in the moisture.
My Overall Impression of the Sugar Lips Polishing Lip Scrub
My lips felt very soft after rinsing the scrub, and I could feel the moisture from the various oils in the lip scrub after rinsing it from my lips. I almost felt like applying a lip balm afterward wouldn't be necessary, but I knew that I needed to seal the moisture in for maximum lasting effects.
Although the price is a little steep for the lip scrub, a little bit goes a long way so you won't run out quickly and because I found the lip scrub to be quite effective, the more I used it, the less often I found myself actually having to use it. Although I'm a bit of a frugalist, I probably wouldn't purchase this product simply because of the price tag and some of the questionable preservatives being used. For less than $5 worth or items usually found in your kitchen, you could make your own at-home lip scrub without with added preservatives. However, if you're not into the whole DIY idea, and you're not really concerned about the added preservatives then the Sugar Lips Polishing lip scrub would be a worthy investment at the typical cost of beauty.
