Our Opportunity: The Centre of Geographic Sciences (COGS), an International geomatics training center of the Nova Scotia Community College, offers training at the post-secondary and post-graduate levels. As a member of the School of Trades and Technology faculty team, you will provide instruction in various programs, primarily focusing on remote sensing, GPS and GIS technologies. Your areas of instruction will include courses in Lidar, photogrammetry and other remote sensing technologies depending on program needs and your mix of training and industrial experience. You will assess learning, provide consultation, assist in the development and preparation of related course materials and provide academic and career advisement. You will liaise with business and industry and represent the College when required. You will also maintain currency in industry practices.

Your Credentials:
• You possess relevant post-secondary education with at least a technologist diploma or degree in a geomatics related discipline
• You have a minimum of five years of occupational experience with specific emphasis on the planning, collection and analysis of Lidar and/or other remotely sensed data, i.e. photogrammetry, multispectral data or multi-beam bathymetry
• Lidar expertise shall include airborne and terrestrial based Lidar systems.
• You possess a strong background in geomatics theory and applications, specifically GIS and carrier phase GPS technologies
• You should have experience using commercial digital image processing systems such as ERDAS or PCI
• Project management certification is an asset
• Additional skills in softcopy photogrammetry, 3D visualization, and intelligent image processing systems and scripting would be beneficial.
• The position also requires continuous updating of both theoretical and practical courses, requiring ongoing contact with industry.
• You are familiar with Portfolio education.
