The award winning actress was ranked 83rd among the world's most influential women by Forbes earlier this year. That may have something to do with her status as the most followed celebrity on Weibo (China's version of Twitter) with over 72 million fans. She uses the platform to update her fans on her work as well as to raise awareness about social issues. Notably she has addressed the topics of media censorship and air pollution in China. I thought she was quite charming in Color Me Love, a romantic comedy that has drawn comparisons to The Devil Wears Prada. And I admire Yao Chen even more for how she's using her considerable influence on social media to try to make a positive impact.
