Excel Twist Lipstick in No.27

By Natasha Bhatt
Hi girls,
I hope you are having a great December so far. The weather is finally cool here in Mumbai after feeling hot in the first few days of December. After completing 100 posts it is now again back to business. Since the winter has finally set in and going by the fall/winter trend most of us buy plum, purples and berry shades of lipsticks  for the winter. When I was going through my vanity I found this lipstick I had got last December. The shade scared me first but then I was able to pull it off. The lipstick I am talking about is a local brand lipstick available in my city called Excel Twist Lipstick in no.27. Let us find out in the review about this lippie.
Ingredients: Nothing mentioned. Contains Vitamin C and B2

Price: Somewhere between 120 and 150/- I had got it on a sale for 60 bucks.

Quantity: 2.8g

Availability: May be available at Beauty Centre, Crawford Market or Alfa at Vile Parle in Mumbai.

The jumbo lip pencil trend has been in the make up world for quite sometime. Whether it is eye shadows or lipsticks. Personally I like the trend because it is more convenient and helps in precise application whether it is lips or eyes. The Excel lipstick is a twist up jumbo lip pencil. The color of the body almost matches to that of the actual lip color. The cap is a plastic transparent one so over time it does crack unfortunately and also with time it gets a bit loose. Hence I would not call it travel friendly.Overall packaging is nothing great but not that bad either.
The lipstick as I mentioned before is purely a twist up jumbo lip pencil. It claims to contain Vitamin C and B2 and is waterproof. The shade is deep plum which may look like almost black in the hand swatch. One swipe is enough on the lips. You can then use a lip brush or a clean finger and spread it well on the lips which will give you a lovely plum color. I usually go over it once, spread it evenly and blot it with a tissue and it looks amazing. The scent of the lipstick is a bit faint, nothing exceptional. The pencil is very creamy and glides smoothly on the lips hence any lip gloss is not required on top of it. There is no shimmer. It is richly pigmented and one swipe is enough to show its opaqueness on the lips. The color will last for more than 6 hours and once faded will leave a lovely plum tint to the lips. For this price you can't get anything more.
The Good:
Affordable.
Creamy and glides smoothly on the lips.
Opaque in one swipe.
Rich and saturated color.
No shimmer.
The not so Good:
May not be everyone's favorite shade to sport.
Availability is a major issue.
Wish the cap was better.
Ingredients not mentioned.

This is a lovely plumy purple lipstick for this winter. I did wear it to church after blotting it on the lips. I loved it. It made my teeth look white too :p This shade may not be everyone's cup of tea but there is no harm in trying something different for a change. I would recommend you to try this shade if you can find it.
I hope my review was helpful to you. Do comment below and also suggest me some plum lipstick which I may not be aware other than Revlon's Black Cherry.
Love,
