Only 4 km from the Dubai coastline, a large-budget project is being created - an archipelago of three hundred artificial islands reflecting, among others, the climate and appearance of European cities. The Europa project is an unprecedented undertaking of the Austrian developer Josef Kleindienst. The investment cost is estimated at nearly one and a half billion dollars.
Europe in Dubai, UAE
This is not the first investment in Dubai in artificial islands. Giant construction projects have been amazing the world for years. In 2008, the Palm Jumeirah island was officially opened, the smallest of the three already forming the famous Palm Island complex. Each of the islands resembles a palm leaf separated from the sea by a crescent-shaped breakwater, which is to serve as a substrate for the creation of a coral reef.
The implementation of the second island, Palm Jebel Ali, began in 2002. It is a complex of 404 houses on stilts connected by a long bridge. The bridge and the departing buildings form an Arabic inscription - a fragment of a poem by Sheikh Muhammad bin Rashid Al Maktum: "Take wisdom from the wise. It takes a man's vision to write on water. Not everyone who rides a horse is a jockey. Great people are facing greater challenges. "In 2004, the construction of the third and largest of the Palm Islands - Deirah - began.
The construction of the second massive project - The World archipelago - began in 2003. It consists of about 300 small artificial islands, arranged so that they form a bird's-eye view of the world map.
The first of the buildings planned on them (Royal Island Beach Club on the island of Lebanon) was completed in July 2012. The financial crisis caused problems in the implementation of the project. Now the construction has started again. Currently, the Europa project is being created as part of The World. It consists of six islands: Europe, Monaco, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland and Saint Petersburg.
The common denominator for the whole idea is the concept of transferring European architecture, historical heritage and lifestyle into the realities of the Middle East. Designers care about details. A 1000-year-old olive tree transported from Italy was recently planted here as a symbol of the European agricultural tradition. It will grow on the island of Sweden. Other century-old specimens found their way to the island of Germany.
Experience EuropeThe project is to give the opportunity to experience a European lifestyle, create the appearance of living in a European metropolis. Thanks to the artificial rain or snow production system, you will be able to feel all the climate attractions of our continent.
The largest and thus the most important island is Europe with streets full of pubs, restaurants, clubs and shops of the best European designers.
Monaco Islands (where you will be able to admire the charms of the Cote d'Azur with the yacht port inspired by the resort of St. Tropez), St. St. Petersburg and Switzerland will connect floating bridges to the island of Europe. They set out, among others the surface of the largest open aquarium in the world, with corals and countless exotic sea creatures.
The main means of transport in this artificial paradise will be luxury catamarans. They deliver guests to mansions located on small islands and to 5-star hotels or luxury restaurants built on or below the water.
The focus of the Europe project is Sweden. A replica of the center of a European city with air-conditioned streets will be created here, so that the prevailing temperature resembles the European climate as much as possible (although of course it will not be completely cold, because there will be no frosts here). You will be able to live in a luxury villa equipped to the highest standard in cooperation with Bentley Home, with a private pool, gym and private spa. The smallest of them has 1,400 sq m. surface. The whole will be surrounded by about 300 unbuilt and uninhabited islands.
The project is to be completed at the end of 2020, as will the Palm Islands. Just in time to welcome the 25 million foreign guests expected in Dubai in 2020 for the Expo exhibition.
