Entry Fee #TCSNYCMarathon

I was reviewing my credit card transactions the other day and almost got floored with a recorded transaction that amounted to $358. It was a huge sum of money and I couldn't remember purchasing anything lately. I came to realize that it was my entry fee for the NYC Marathon. I got to say that one has to be financially ready if you are planning or has been relentless in participating in lotteries. The entry fee, especially for non-US residents is no joke. This sum is already equivalent to a month's worth of wage (even more).
There are several ways to get in and one of them is to join the lottery. It is the easiest method for most recreational runners like me but this requires some luck since there is an (automated?) system that the organizers are using for its selection process. During the application process, you will be asked to fill in your credit card information. Once you get picked, your card will then get charged with the entry fee. You'd want to make sure that you pay your bills on time and you've already stashed some money just in case you get picked. Instead of jumping up and down because of the opportunity to run the streets of New York, you'd find yourself on a financial pinch.
