With pet grooming being part of a $4 billion dollar industry, according to the American Pet Products Association, more and more pet owners are raising the bar from the most unusual trims to the boldest color dye jobs around. This has led to dog worship and you're invited inside the sacred world of EXTREME dog grooming!

Every year, the creative grooming competition takes place at Groom Expo, the world's largest pet grooming show where competitors can win up to $5,000  (£3,000) for the wackiest looking pets with over $30,000 (£19,000) in total prize money.

Ren Netherland of Florida travels every year, all across the US, to capture these stunning images of dogs in some of the most radical cuts and dyes you will ever see! Netherland, a former Navy officer told the Daily Mail that  The owners have to grow out their dog's hair in preparation for the show - so that it's long enough for them to make something. “They train and rehearse throughout the year in preparation for the competition, whittling their creation down to a fine art.”

Netherland told the Sun “Creative grooming has become wildly popular. The majority of people are amazed by the photos and are often curious as to what breed of dog it is.
“There will always be that one person that thinks it is cruel but they don’t understand how loved these dogs are.”
The wacky designs you see can take up to six months to develop featuring characters from Disney, Sesame Street, Star Wars among other outlandish creations. Owners spend about two hours prepping their pooches before the big photo shoot and before they make their appearance before a panel of expert judges.
