Now here is a special makeup launch that I hold close to my heart...because this was by my dear friend Erin Jung, who I had the pleasure of mentoring towards the launch of her own beauty line, Candela Cosmetics. A beauty prodigy and vlogging personality, 17 year old Erin founded this exciting local brand to create makeup that's free from silicones and parabens, while still providing high pigmentation and excellent color payoff of a high-end product.
After months of planning, we were about to present her dream in the sleek address of The Co...
The launch party was off to a roaring start with everyone having a blast at the various fringe activities, like making their own pina colada cocktail drink, flower art and even mixing up their very own special shade of lipstick on the spot!
My heart swells with pride as I watched Erin take the stage as she spoke about how she founded Candela Cosmetics and vision of everyday beauty that she wanted to create for the modern busy woman. Erin believed in focusing on maintaining the long-term health of the skin instead of short-term fixes, so Candela's makeup is formulated to be nourishing to skin such that you can even sleepin it just like you would a night cream.
One of the 3 products launched is the Perfecting Creme Blush ($38), with 3 shades in Pacific Coral, Bougainvilla and Fire & Spice to choose from. It feels abit like a salve initially, and you'd have to buff the product out. My tip would be to warm the jar up by rolling it between your hands first before applying. Very intense pigmentation as you can see, with a semi-dewy natural finish.

So blessed to see my close blogging friends and media guests turn up in full force for support! So I had the pleasure of bagging some of the much anticipated new products for a review. First up and the star of the launch is the Invigorating Coconut Water Foundation in Cider ($68, medium tone). Encapsulated in frost glass bottle with a black dripper head, which makes it easy for me to gauge just the right amount to apply.
A full suction is enough to go over my entire face, and I like using my flat-top brush to evenly smooth it out. You'll need to shake it well before application as the coconut water will rise and sit at the top, but that's very normal. It feels cool and refreshing upon application, and it mattifies onto the face almost immediately.
I actually took a test drive and slept in it for a day...and found that the foundation still stayed mostly intact, albeit a slightly dewy appearance due to my sebum production during the night. And hallelujah, no breakouts not tiny bumps due to clogging were observed!
Some may say that it provides quite limited coverage that's similar to a tinted moisturiser, which I agree but to a certain extent. While one layer does well to even out uneven skintone, a second layer is recommended by me to give a decent coverage for the majority such as my blemish marks, general redness around the nose and to smooth out the bumpy textures of my skin. Very buildable formulation!
Here is the Before and After results (without any powder setting)
Who can resist lippies? My pick of the 3 new shades is Guava, an everyday easy-to-wear, summery peachy shade with little 24K golden specks embedded inside. It also comes in a sleek black glossy packaging, with a letter 'C' embossing on the lipstick bullet. Now you may notice some light patches on the lipstick but fret not: this is because of the white pigment and also when you put oil in the lipstick shaper which solidifies when its too cold.
Congratulations to my dear Erin on the launch of your dream!
