Elle 18 Color Burst Lipstick - Grape Rain

By Natasha Bhatt
Hi girls,
I hope you had a great Monday. Mine was typically boring and to top it all I am facing horrible internet issues :/ I am somehow managing and trying to solve the problem as it is getting frustrating now. Ok so coming back to the blogging business I thought I would review this less talked about lipstick from the Elle 18 Color Burst Lipstick collection called Grape Rain. I had got this along with a couple others almost a year back so it was  time that I reviewed it.. Let us find out more about this one in the review.....

Ingredients: Contains Cocoa Butter.

Price: Rs.100 for 4.3g.

Time and again I have mentioned about the packaging which is plain jane types but the animated character seems to add some life to it hence making it all cute and worth purchasing. It shuts well although does not click lock. I have not had issues carrying it along with me. Also many have had issues with melting and stuff - again I never had because I usually store them in a cool dark place. Overall nothing spectacular but decent enough for 100 bucks.
It is almost winter time and in the true make up sense people should wear more deep and dark shades during fall and winter, I mean at least that's what people say!!Ok so this one perfectly fits into that category. Yes it is a purple plum lipstick more on the purple side. It contains tonnes of shimmer which strangely did not bother me much until I had to take it off my lips at the end of the day and all the tiny  silver shimmer was outside my lips. I am more of  a neutral lipstick person but post blogging since so many months I have been more experimental.  I like trying shades which no one else has tried and try making it look good. Most may not like this lipstick but as I said going by the fall winter trend this will  fit the bill. It has a nice cocoa butter but I would say bubble gummy smell which I do not find annoying. Like most other Elle 18 lipsticks this too has a lip balm in the center of the lipstick which makes it moisturizing and glides easily on the lips. The lipstick is not intensely pigmented and opaque in the first swipe and needs to be layered for an opaque finish. It lasts for 4 to 5 hours on me and fades evenly leaving a nice purple tint on the lips. Although I may not reach for this lipstick often I do remember my friend complimenting me on wearing this so I guess it looks good on me ;)

The Good:

Easily available even online.
Inexpensive.
Nice plum purple shade.
Moisturizing and glides smoothly on the lips.
Lovely smell.
Perfect fall winter color.
Decent staying power.

The not so Good:

May not be a favorite shade for all skin tones.
Contains shimmer which gets outside the lips when you take off the lipstick.Ingredient list missing.

Rating:4.2/5

If you are looking for a purple plum lipstick and are ok with the shimmer which actually does not feel gritty on the lips then do try this one this winter. It may or may not suit everyone. You can decide that for yourself. I would recommend this lipstick though.
