Dressing for Truffles with Friends

By Reasonstodress

First of all I hope everyone had a great Easter! My son was home for Easter break so I didn't have much time or energy (or desire!) to be at my computer. We had a great week together even though I had to work on Easter Sunday and Monday.

No need to feel bad for me, I was working because of a fantastic that came my way! You see when I was in Milan for the Milan Fashion Week I met this guy outside of the Fendi fashion show (you can see all the great street styles from the Fendi show here btw!).

I was in Milan alone and didn't have anyone to take photos of my outfits, so imagine how happy I was when I met this photographer who offered to take my picture and we totally hit it off.

His name is Theodore LaMotta and he is a 24 year old creative, a professional photographer and videographer he also does branding, graphic design, event planning and so much more. He's from New Jersey, but has been living in Milan for the past few months, and his list of places to see and do is better than any guidebook I've ever read. Not only does he have a positive and easy going attitude but he survived a brutal car crash and managed to teach himself how to walk and TALK again....talk about a new lease on life!

Truffles with Friends

Needless to say Theo and I hit it off and I asked him if he wouldn't mind coming with me to an event at a new luxury truffle bar and restaurant that's opened recently in Milan, by Roman businessman Alberto Sermoneta. I should also mention that I will be doing a full feature and interview on Tartufi & Friends in the RTD Magazine and also for the largest Italian cultural newspaper in America the Italo Americano Magazine.

Unfortunately Theodore, my new videographer friend, has to head back to the US for a few months and will be leaving Italy, which made me really sad since over cocktails at Tartufi & Friends we talked about a possible collaboration idea for the new brand.

A video to introduce my husband and his family to the world and officially launch the concept behind our "accessible luxury" goods through our kickstarter campaign. .... but time was running out!

Theo agreed to come and stay in Modena over Easter and we literally worked morning and evening over the two days at our factory and around Modena to film the piece and I am INCREDIBLY HAPPY.

I cannot wait to share it with you in a month or so, and I apologize that I didn't have time to put together a post or finish the RTD Magazine because all of my extra energy has been dedicated to putting this together. This just goes to prove that good things happen when you make good freinds, and even better things happen when you drink truffle based cocktails!

What I Wore

Theo and I were invited to join the Tartufi & Friends owner for an aperitivo at his chic Milan spot so I felt like dressing the party and being a lady.

I wore kitten heeled sling backs, I did a whole feature on this trend in the last issue of the magazine which is now available online here. I also wore a vintage designer bag, by the Italian brand RODO, whom I've also introduced you to in the last edition of the Magazine.

My top is Marc by Marc Jacobs that I found from 70% off on Shopbop! The original price was $248 and it was on sale for $74.40! It is a structured cotton poplin crop top with a lateral zipper and big sweeping crossed fabric panels and I paired it with black matt satin cropped pants.

I can't wait to style this top when the weather becomes a little warmer, and I am so looking forward to sharing the new video for you. A special thank you to Theo LaMotta for coming all the way out to Modena!! And cheers to returning to Tartufi & Friends for another cocktail as soon as you're back in Milan!
