Don’t Do These Things When You Start Blogging| Dos & Don’ts
So, you’re thinking about starting a blog. Great! However, there’s so much competition out there, that you want to be sure you’re doing it for the right reasons. There are also many mistakes a new blogger can make when just starting out, and this post aims to help you if you want to make sure you don’t struggle too much as a newbie on the scene.
Below, you’ll find a list of things that you shouldn’t do when you start blogging. Pay attention to them and you’ll have a much better time!
Don’t Start Blogging Because You Want To Make A Ton Of Money
First of all, you shouldn’t start blogging at all if you’re doing it to make a ton of money. The sad fact is, 80% of bloggers never even make $100 from blogging.
You only have a small chance of funding your lifestyle with your blog, let alone making a substantial amount of money from it. You should blog because you love it and because you want to spread a message, not for the money. You’ll end up disappointed.
Blogging Mistake 1: Don’t Write About Everything
When you try to please everybody and write about everything, you water down your blog. Instead, it’s much better to write about a niche; a more specific topic. Instead of writing about fashion, fitness, and beauty, write about one. Later on, when you’ve built up a following, you can consider expanding. However, you’ll want to make sure you don’t annoy and alienate your audience.
In general, the more unique the topic you pick, the better. Just make sure it’s something you’re really passionate about!
Blogging Mistake 2: Don’t Approach Brands For Free Stuff Too Early
So, you’ve got your pretty blog and you’ve even written your first few posts. Great! You’ve made a great start. Just don’t think that now is the right time to approach brands for free stuff. You’ll be lucky to get a reply, and you might even put them off working with you in the future.
You should wait until you have a decent following and many regular/new visitors. Brands will usually approach you at this point, although approaching them isn’t so taboo when you have built a decent following.

Blogging Mistake 3: Don’t Be Afraid To Invest In Tools That Will Help You To Grow Your Blog
Lots of new bloggers are scared to put money into tools that will actually help them to grow their blog and make them money. Many are even afraid to pay for web hosting and instead choose a free platform, but this is also a mistake as you won’t be taken seriously.
There are so many tools you can look into that will help you to grow your blog, including Jumio’s Netverify Trusted Identity as a Service.
Blogging Mistake 4: Don’t Fail To Create A Schedule
Not everybody thrives with the help of a schedule, but a schedule nearly always helps bloggers. It can help you to keep track of everything you need to do and enable you to get your content out there consistently.
That is it guys. I hope you found this helpful.
