DIY | Glitter Ombré Nails

Monday manicure

On Mondays I always treat myself to two simple but often forgotten things. Rest day from working out, and a manicure. Why? Because who doesn’t like starting the week pampering herself instead of crawling behind the desk?

The infamous Ombré effect moves from head to fingers and toes. Just pick 5 nail polishes in the same color family and paint your nails from lightest to darkest, or darkest to lightest. As I already had the blue scale on my fingers once, this time I went for a trickier manicure. Ombré marries Glitter.

This past Monday I had a super nice idea, given by Alyssa Hertzig, who is an editor for beauty-bible Allure. You can read how she did it here, and don’t forget to follow her Twitter to keep updated on anything beauty wisdom related.

HOW TO

What you need: clear nail polish, glitter, a tiny brush and top coat.

1 | Mix some clear nail polish with very little glitter to cover the nail. Don’t start at the very bottom as we want to make an increasing effect. Apply only one coat and allow to dry.

2 | Into the tips… Dip your brush in the clear nail polish+glitter mixture and paint only the tips with strokes, without hard lines; it doesn’t have to look perfect. Pile as much glitteras needed to get the desired effect.

3 | Allow to dry again and finish with a top coat.
