Dine Out : Nobu

After many years at their original Tribeca flagship, Nobu made a move further downtown in the heart of the Financial District. Located in the landmarked building that once housed the AT&T headquarters, Nobu Downtown is an expansive bi-level restaurant that spans the ground and sub-level floors. A wooden ash brushstroke sculpture is the sweeping centerpiece of the upstairs space that features a bar and more casual lounge area akin to the former Nobu Next Door. Bold limestone columns, original details of the former lobby corner off the bar area. Taking inspiration from Japanese origami, blonde wood slatted ceilings oversee the spacious dining room downstairs. The decor overall evokes the Japanese countryside with a generous use of natural textures, birch trees and a wall made of river stones. A dramatic ceramic mural provides a scenic backdrop for the plush banquettes.
