Dine Out : Little Park

By Rolala @rolalaloves

I will preface this by saying that I'm a little behind on my Dine Out posts since we dined at Little Park during Summer Restaurant Week. Little Park which is part of the Smyth Hotel is located on the bustling corner of Chambers Street and West Broadway in Tribeca. This modern American restaurant serves up seasonal cuisine highlighting organic and sustainable farm to table ingredients. The decor in the L shaped space is classic, minimal and neutral with blonde wood tables, leather and fabric upholstered seating and mosaic marble tiled floors. Overall the food was good with an interesting mix of flavors that served to play up each of the main ingredients. We chose the heirloom tomatoes with strawberry and burrata and a vidalia onion tart with black fennel seed and summer herb as starters and they both tasted really fresh and vibrant. Our entrées of a girandole pasta with sunchoke marinara and zucchini and New York strip steak with market greens and charred leek were balanced and comforting. And I'm not usually into dessert but I quite enjoyed the peach sorbet with spicy candied pecans. I think it may be because it was refreshingly tart and not sweet at all. The blueberry cake with corn ice cream in contrast was too sweet and I didn't care much for it. The service was cordial and a little bit slow but we were there during the lunch rush. It was a pleasant dining experience. This is our third visit to an Andrew Carmellini establishment and it would fall in between Locanda Verde and The Dutch for me. I will also mention that they have a good number of vegetarian options on the menu.
