Diet Doctor Free CME Course: Help Us Spread the Word

By Dietdoctor @DietDoctor1

Diet Doctor is thrilled to announce our own online continuing medical education (CME) activity, Treating metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, and obesity with therapeutic carbohydrate restriction.

Through the support of our members, we are able to offer this course at no cost to interested clinicians. This is part of our goal to help clinicians everywhere learn that low-carb and keto diets are safe and effective ways to help individuals improve their metabolic health. We want all qualified healthcare providers to offer a low-carb dietary plan to all patients who might benefit, especially as an option to treat or reverse metabolic disease.

If you aren't a healthcare provider, chances are you know someone who is. If you are one, we hope that you'll take our CME and tell your colleagues about it. You can help us spread the word about low-carb dietary options by sharing this announcement or this flyer with friends, family, co-workers, and your own healthcare provider.

As this outline shows, this course covers everything a healthcare provider needs to know about dietary carbohydrate restriction and how to implement it safely and effectively with suitable patients. In keeping with our mission to "make low carb simple," the course comes with supplemental materials for clinicians and their patients to make it easy to translate evidence into practice.

This includes resources that clinicians can use to educate patients about therapeutic carbohydrate restriction, like a sample menu, shopping list, information about target protein ranges, and much more. The course also includes materials to help clinicians safely prescribe therapeutic carbohydrate restriction to patients, including summaries of how to monitor ketones and safely de-prescribe medications for type 2 diabetes.

And as always, Diet Doctor has inspirational stories, recipes, meal plans, and many other resources that can help patients succeed. We also provide additional support for clinicians in the form of informative videos, clinical resources, and reports from clinicians who use therapeutic carbohydrate restriction in their own practices.

The CME course is jointly provided by Postgraduate Institute for Medicine (PIM) and Diet Doctor and is intended for physicians, physician assistants, registered nurses, and dietitians engaged in the care of patients with metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, and obesity.

Working with PIM ensures that our already-high standards are maintained and that any conflicts of interest are managed appropriately. As most of you already know, here at Diet Doctor, we go out of our way to avoid any monetary ties that might be attached to outside influences. We show no ads, take no industry or investor money, and sell no products. Ever. We are grateful to our members for their support in making special projects like this CME activity possible.

Working with PIM also makes sure that our course represents a fair, balanced, and evidence-based perspective. This fully referenced course was designed by a team of physicians and dietitians with experience using therapeutic carbohydrate restriction in clinical settings.

PIM is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
