Contour For Cowards (Like Me!)

When it comes to contouring, I always associate it with celebrities, stage performers and people who are just much more artistic than I am, but actually, there is a way to contour for everyone.
It has taken me a few years to find out what works for me, but I definitely feel like I have figured out some Contour for Cowards (like me!) - here's what I like to use...
If you prefer to use liquid products, then I would recommend using a foundation that is 2 shades darker than your skintone and a concealer that is one step lighter than your skintone. I love the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation and the Collection Lasting Perfection.  Both are really easy to blend (I use a beauty blender from Real Techniques).
If you prefer powder contour then I would thoroughly recommend the Barry M Chisel Cheeks contour set.  This has two contour colours and one highlight color.  I love the middle color which is a reddy brown and looks lovely on fairer skintones like mine.
Here's how I apply the contour...

So I recommend applying your all over base first and then work on contouring from there.  I apply the darker shade along my forehead, through the hollows of my cheeks, down the sides of my nose and jawline as you can see. I would then apply the concealer (or lighter colour) as shown above in all the places you wish to highight.
Take a beauty blender or a foundation brush and work the colours in (the same way as you would when you're blending your eyeshadow in) until you get smooth edges and are happy with the shades.  I would wait a few more minutes then put a pressed powder on top to set the contour. Here's the result...
It makes your face look a bit more defined without going overboard and it definitely adds light and shade to your skin where foundation lacks in depth.
