CCA Conference

Location: online only (due to COVID19 pandemic)

Date: Tuesday, May 25 - Thursday, May 27 th

Everyone Welcome!

Geospatial technology has continually advanced over the past several years and high quality multi-dimensional mapping is now more available to a broad audience. There is growing interest in LiDAR and related multi-dimensional technology for mapping natural disasters, forestry, flood mapping, and much more.

The Canadian Cartographic Association (CCA), is a dedicated, experienced, and enthusiastic group promoting interest in mapping cartographic material and creating opportunities to network and share ideas. This year the CCA will be hosting their 45th Annual Conference and General Meeting fully online due to the extended COVID19 pandemic.

Keynote Presentations will be provided by Tim Webster, renowned Research Scientist specializing in LiDAR mapping in coastal environments; Anita Graser, a researcher, open source GIS developer, and author of several books about QGIS; and Steve Liang CTO of SensorUp, who is a global influencer on the Internet of Things. Presentation topics include an update on the national Elevation Strategy, mapping the pandemic, creating shaded relief models, flood modelling with LiDAR data, the growth of Fantasy Maps, challenges in mapping information with and about Indigenous Peoples and communities, and the increased use of remote sensing technology in Canada. The 3 day conference will be a gathering of geospatial practitioners, educators, and researchers from the public and private sectors, universities and the community at large. We welcome anyone with an interest in maps. Registration are being kept low to encourage participation from as wide an audience as possible. Registration to attend all 3 days is only $20 for general audience ($10 for students). Attendees can also opt to become a CCA at a reduced rate for the remainder of the year, as part of the conference registration. General information about membership: https://cca-acc.org/membership

CCA is organizing an online map gallery including entries from this year's student mapping competitions, and much more.

We hope you can join us and , and participate in this year's online conference as we explore LiDAR and other mapping techniques.
