Cleaning Tips For Your Patio Doors*

By Livedwithlove @kerrymarie

Patio doors were a must have when we were looking for a house. I find they let so much light in and can be a real focal point of a property, especially bi folding patio doors. Now don't get me wrong, after living here over a year now, I still love my patio doors but have found out they can be a nightmare to clean, so here are my top tips at keeping them sparkling (even with a baby..!)
1. Vinegar is fantastic for cleaning almost anything but most of all glass. It is also free from chemicals even if it a bit smelly! Dilute it with water and buff it off with almost anything, even newspaper!
2. Steam cleaners are also chemical free and can do a great job of getting them clean without streaks if that's something you struggle with. I must admit, this is my favorite way as it is quick and easy and guarantees no streaks without buffing and buffing the glass until my arms fall off!
3. To clean the actual frame (only if it is plastic) I'd suggest using some kind of anti-fungal disinfectant or diluted bleach to stop any mold forming, particularly on the outside.
4. Don't forget the handles! Sometimes they can over looked but they are the part that is used the most and will hold the majority of germs. I like to use an antibacterial soap & water to wash them.
5. Lastly, give the lock mechanism bit a vacuum to get rid of any bits of fluff or dirt that can potentially cause the lock to stick.
Do you have patio doors? What are your tips?
