Burberry Lip Contour

By Hollysbeautybox @hollysbeautybox
I was having a really rubbish day one day last week, (lightbulb exploded on me, dropped a tray of vol au vents, tripped over, started my diet) but when a package arrived on my desk from Burberry, my day instantly perked up.
Burberry have long since been a brand I've admired, though have seldom tried. (too many other pretty things at more affordable prices!).
I had heard some buzz about the new lip contour on social media so was excited to see I had been sent 'fair' to try out.
The packaging itself is beautiful - everything I love about a product actually. It's heavy, metallic, has a color indicator at the base and is retractable. YES!!
By hearing lip 'contour' I thought this might have a dual shade (one to line and one to fill) but actually this is a single shade that claims to prime, contour and shape.
This has a dome tip which I didn't expect. I thought this would be domed on one side and pointed on the other to help line the lips. I thought this would be a bit tricky to line the lips with but actually I was pleasantly surprised.
The dome is actually quite small - thicker than a lip liner but nowhere near as thick as a lipstick. I twisted this up roughly 2-3cm so not to break it and it glided onto my lips. I then used a brush to pull the product into the lips to blend it slightly before applying the product fully across my lips.
I find this has a buttery like consistency which makes my lips feel super hydrated and nourished. It feels comfortable to wear, like I could reapply this without a mirror. It has a semi matte finish without being drying in the slightest which for me is the perfect lip product.
Obviously I've talked about everything that's good but are there any bad points?
I rarely spend anymore than £20 for a lip product, so if I'm going to spend £24 it needs to be for something pretty impressive. I would say that it's promises to 'prime, contour and shape' are somewhat arguable. I did find this primes the lips well, I was able to shape my lip line too, but the 'contour' aspect was a bit of a let down. I didn't notice any 'shading' or contouring properties of this if I'm honest.
Despite that, this is a great product. It's marketing is a bit off for me, but I reckon I'd pay £24 for this in future. With only 4 shades currently available, I hope more shades of this become available but the shade I have (Fair) is a gorgeous blush 'my lips but miles better' shade.
Would you try this out?
