BUCN Perfect : Penguin Alternate Jerseys...Whats Next?

Before we get into the discussion about what the “new” Pens jersey for next season will look like, let’s have a couple fun facts about their jerseys through history:
  1. The original jerseys in 1967 were blue and white. The penguin logo wasn’t on the jersey. Pittsburgh was written diagonally down the jersey. The logo was a skating penguin with a scarf around its neck. The triangle behind it was chosen to represent the “Golden Triangle.”
  2. The jersey changed the following year to include the logo on it, but the penguin lost his scarf. The logo had the circle around it.
  3. In 1972 the logo lost the circle around the penguin and went with the triangle only.
  4. 1980 was the first year the Pens wore black and gold. The point of switching to black and gold was to match the other teams here in the Burgh. Boston made a fuss, but eventually they got over it.
  5. In 1992, the uniforms were updated again and the penguin was no longer skating in the logo.
  6. The skating penguin logo was brought back in 1999. Vegas gold was introduced.
  7. The last change to the current jerseys was in 2007 when Reebok designed the new performance enhancing jerseys.
  8. The blue uniforms worn the past few seasons are not going to be worn going forward.

Now that the Pens have decided to stop wearing the blue jerseys, what kind of alternate jersey does everyone think they’ll wear next year? Everyone agrees that we need to drop any type of blue. The blues are equated with the start of Sid's concussions. Some are saying go back to the bright gold of the early 90s era, some want the alternate jersey to be the diagonal Pittsburgh logo. Rob Rossi from the Trib tweeted 4/3/2013 that next year there won't be an alternate jersey.
Hmmmmm... Does this delay mean a completely new look for the jerseys? Or does it mean the Penguins want to take their time in choosing another alternate?
