Via CBSBoston: The Boston Bruins have acquired forward Jaromir Jagr from the Dallas Stars for Lane MacDemid, Cody Payne and a conditional second round draft pick, the Stars announced Tuesday afternoon.
BOOM! The mullet is for real!
I guess I’m not all in on this hockey thing because apparently not only is Jaromir Jagr still playing hockey but he’s playing well. And now he’s playing for the Bruins. After an apparent mishap between the B’s and Calgary over Jarome Iginla, the B’s have settled on the wily veteran Jagr. Like 10 years ago, I’d probably need a change of pants after hearing this news, because this guy was the truth. Now, I’m like eh. Look, I want to be pumped up about this and maybe after I see him on the ice, I’ll change my tune, but is this the right move?
Good thing I’ve got the media to help me feel better:
Via Sportingnews: Whether it’s from Boston or anyone else—and the market for Jagr will be strong—Dallas should net at least as much as Calgary did with Iginla: an assumed late first-round pick and two prospects. Jagr is older than Iginla and less likely to re-sign with the team that acquires him, but he’s also been better in 2013; Jagr still drives possession at even strength, and has 14 goals and 12 assists so far in 2013. Compare that to nine and 13 for Iginla.
aaanndd, I’m back! That didn’t take long. I think I’m just going to see Jagr as the guy who ran circles around opponents for years and won 1 MVP while being named a finalist another five times. Let’s do the damn thing! Screw Pittsburgh, we got this.
