Broken Riders Contour Jersey Review

By Grindinggears

When it comes to choosing the gear we go riding in there are only really two things we really need. Those two things are comfort and durability, if it also looks good then that’s a bonus and if it is affordable then, hey, that’s even better! Now, in my time I’ve worn all sorts of clothes out riding, from jeans and a tee-shirt, to a Lyrca body suit (just the once, I promise). But once you find MTB specific clothing there really is no going back.

A while ago you may remember us reviewing the Broken Rider’s Bamboo Tee which we gave a sterling review, and for good reason. Well, another Broken Riders item caught our attention and this one is better than ever.

Broken Riders Contour Jersey

The first thing I need to say is Wow! What a service. Even before I opened the package I was impressed, the time between clicking ‘buy’ and the postman knocking on my door couldn’t have been more than 12 hours. Fantastic by any standards. Upon opening the package I was even more impressed, the Broken Riders Contour Jersey is even better than I expected – and my standards are pretty high!

For just £40, this is a whole lot of jersey. It is incredibly comfortable from the get go, and considering it is made of recycled polyester it is even eco friendly! So far the Contour Jersey is ticking all the boxes, so let’s see how it feels out on a ride.

The Test

I’ve taken this jersey for several spins in a variety of weather conditions and so far I’m incredibly impressed. It breathes incredibly well and has a lovely loose, comfortable fit that makes it great for both flying down the hills and for struggling up them.

This top looks brilliant and received quite a few compliments out on the trails. I’ve worn all sorts of tops from the incredibly bright to the sleek black kit and this is a great combination of the two. The bright blue contour lines look delightful against the contrast of the nice black design producing a very eye pleasing effect.

In terms of durability, I’ve yet to come off and find out the hard way whether it rips. However, it does seem to take the strain of tugs and pulls very well, which is a promising step in the right direction. One thing that I can definitely say is that it handles mud brilliantly, from brushing off dry crusted mud to coming up sparking after I attempt to ruin my washing machine with half a mountain of muck.

Overall

Frankly, Broken Riders is an amazing company that do their best to produce some brilliant mountain biking clothes in a completely ethical way. The pricing is definitely a selling point, especially considering that many MTB jerseys come in at well over £50 and you can get this for just £40! Not only that, but with ever BR order you get free stickers. That’s right STICKERS! We all love stickers and these ones are pretty damn cool. The delivery, customer service and product are all top notch and so the Contour Jersey gets full marks from us!
