PITTSBURGH -- The Steelers are still feeling the effects of their 19-16 win over the Ravens, and they will have to work through what coach Mike Tomlin called a “laundry list of injuries” as they prepare for a game at Oakland.
The Steelers got good and bad news on the injury front in regard to inside linebacker Lawrence Timmons.
Timmons, who tied a career-high with 17 tackles in the win over the Ravens, also broke his left hand in the second half of the game. He has been fitted for a cast and Tomlin said the seventh-year veteran is “ready to go.”
“He has full mobility in all of his fingers,” Tomlin said Tuesday at his weekly news conference.
Tomlin is optimistic that right tackle Marcus Gilbert will be able to play at Oakland and even practice this week even though he is dealing with a right quadriceps injury.
Gilbert re-aggravated the injury early in the Ravens game, and Guy Whimper played the rest of the way at right tackle.
A number of Steelers will be limited in practice this week, including left tackle Kelvin Beachum (ribs), outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley (knee), defensive end Brett Keisel (ribs) and wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery (abdomen).
Defensive end Cameron Heyward was sent home Monday because of an illness, but Tomlin said he is expected to play against the Raiders.
Rookie wide receiver Markus Wheaton (finger) will miss his third consecutive game while tight end Richard Gordon (toe) is questionable for Sunday, Tomlin said.
