Brazil Multiday Ultra Challenge 2016

By Abichal @Multidays

An exciting new opportunity will take place starting February 9th 2016 in Sao Paolo, Brazil. Offering a 1000 mile race as well as 6 & 10 day and 48/24 hour options, this event caters for almost every multiday runner.

1000 mile races are a rare phenomena despite the interest in shorter ultras and the Brazilian 1000 mile race has a very generous time limit of 26 days – an average of 38 miles a day suggesting that there could be a high proportion of finishers relative to previous 1000 mile races.
The last 1000 mile race took place in Athens in 2012 with three starters and only Nikitas Nomikos was successful in the 16 day time limit.

With the addition of a 10 day race, a distance popularized by the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team and the Self-Transcendence races in New York, and the standard 6 day race, this is a chance to put the winter training to good use early in the season.

With all races timed to finish on March 6th the energy should be high right to the end.

The course is described as crushed and packed gravel and either of a 1 or 1.8km loop

The venue is three hours from GRU International Airport in Sao Paulo.

Registration is now open on the website.
