Boscia: Super-Charge Overnight Moisture Night Cream Review

By Joanna Koh

Ever had those days where you stumble into your office/classroom looking like a zombie complete with puffy eyes, dark circles and a sad sallow complexion? Whether you were up late last night catching up on the latest korean drama series or working on a report that was due last week, a poor night’s sleep is bound wreck havoc on your skin the next day, making you look like an extra from the set of “The Walking Dead”.

This is because while you are sleeping, your skin is actually working overtime to reverse the free radical damage sustained during the day (especially if someone has not been wearing sunblock, tsk tsk) and regenerate your cells to reveal fresh and brighter-looking skin in the morning! Ready for bed yet? Of course, due to  busy lifestyles, it is difficult to get a good night’s sleep let alone an early bedtime. Hence, it is useful to supplement your night-time skin care regime with multi-tasking products that boost your skin’s repair and renewal capabilities to make the most of every night’s sleep.

Incorporating the best of Japanese technology and botanical ingredients, boscia’s Super-Charge Overnight Moisture delays premature aging and minimizes fine lines and wrinkles. Accelerating the cell renewal cycle for younger-looking and healthier-feeling skin, its new botanically-based “resurrection complex”  restores and repairs while delivering the most gentle moisture.

Review:

The packaging adorned with a cherry blossom flower pattern is both delicate and sweet, a style that the Japanese do best, and would make a cute addition to any vanity. I particularly like how it comes equipped with a pump to dispense the cream, which is both hygienic and convenient since you do not have to dip your fingers into a jar (and possible contaminate everything else) and it is easier to pump out just the right amount of cream you require. It is also preservative-free, artificial fragrance & color-free and ethanol alcohol-free so rest assured that you are not putting any harsh chemicals on your skin.

The instructions are simple: Apply small amount in PM to clean skin and I find that one pump is enough for my face. Do apply it after serums/essence if you are using any. While it has a thick consistency that definitely helps to lock in moisture, it does leave a slightly greasy finish even after rubbing it into the skin which can be uncomfortable if applied in the day, but is completely fine at night since I’ll be sleeping anyway. This could be because I have combination-oily skin so ladies with dry or normal skin may not have this problem. It also comes with a soothing floral scent which I particularly like.

While I don’t notice much reduction in fine lines or wrinkles, possibly because I don’t have many to begin with, and it is probably too early to attest for its anti-aging capabilities, it does leave my face feeling hydrated when I wake up the next morning. This  is especially useful for those who sleep in air-conditioned rooms that can dry out the skin. That said, one is never too young to start using anti-aging products so I would recommend this product for ladies who are in the market for an anti-aging night cream that  hydrates your skin at the same time. It is also particularly useful for people who do a lot of travelling:  its packaging makes for easy and convenient transportation and provides your skin with much-needed moisture to combat notoriously dry air in the cabin during long-haul flights. Did I mention that at 40ml, it is well within the allowed airport limit on liquids so you don’t have to worry about stashing it in your hand-carry!
