Books A Million Haul

By Kwilliford @ExquisiteEczema
One thing I would like to do this year is incorporate some of my other loves into this blog, but it will still be 90% beauty. I LOVE books every bit as much as I love makeup and coffee. Perhaps even more. I used to read all of the time, but slacked over the last 2-3 years because I honestly haven't had the time. Now I am making time and I almost through reading my third book of the month. I bought a lot of new ones at Books A Million last week and wanted to share them with you in case you needed some ideas on what to read next.
Wayfarer by Alexandra Bracken is the first one I had to get. This book is the second (and last) installment of the Passenger series. I just finished reading Passenger and absolutely loved it. I love how she combines historical fiction with sci-fi and a little bit of romance. I can't wait to see how the story is resolved. Even though this is written for young adults, I highly recommend checking it out.

Up next is You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero. This is the self help book for people who sneer at the idea of self help books. I am 100 pages in, and so far I like it a lot. This is the first self help book that I have ever read and so far I am pleasantly surprised. If you are looking to join a book club (and want to check out a fantastic blog) be sure to stop by Simply Stine.

After reading Gone Girl, I wanted to read something else by Gillian Flynn. Dark Places was part of the buy two get one free special they had going on, so that made my choice much easier. I've also managed to get through school without reading Catcher in the Rye. I have no clue how I managed that because I know most people have it as assigned reading at some point. Anyways, since it is considered a classic, I figured it was time to read it.

I am obsessed with historical fiction. It has always been my favorite genre. Margaret George is one of the most well know historical fiction authors. I got Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scotland and The Isles. Queen Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scots are two of the most infamous monarchs in history. Elizabeth's road to the crown and Mary's demise have always been interesting to me. I started watching Reign because of that interest and I can't wait to start reading these two.

Ice Queen was a random pick. I was browsing the sale section and I thought it looked interesting. I don't turn down $3 books.

The Witches is another historical fiction pick. I have heard great things about the works of Stacy Schiff, but I have never read them for myself. Mythology by Edith Hamilton is somewhat of a classic. Greek and Roman mythology have always been interesting to me. Since this was in the sale section, I finally bought it. My last pick for the buy two get one free deal was The Little Paris Bookshop. I have never heard of this book or the author, but it just sounds so charming.

I am still a pretty big Sailor Moon fan. Sailor Jupiter was always my favorite because she was the perfect blend of feminine and tough. I didn't know they had Sailor Moon Pop figures, so I got pretty excited when I saw this one.
I am going to start reading 2-3 books a month, possibly more if I have the time. I want to do monthly book reviews on here staring this month, too.
What are some of your favorite books? Let me know!
See you soon.
