For cakes, you will need:
* package of chocolate cake mix
* (2) 16 x 9 pans
* 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
* 1 teaspoon of vanilla
* 1 tablespoon of white vinegar
* 1 large Hershey chocolate bar
* large heart shaped cookie cutters
Prepare cake mix as directed on the box. Add in the cinnamon, vanilla, and vinegar. Break your chocolate bar in half. Crumble pieces of 1/2 the bar into the batter. Stir well and divide batter evenly between the two baking pans.
Bake as directed.
For frosting, you will need:
* tub of vanilla frosting
* teaspoon of raspberry extract
* tablespoon of raspberry preserves or fruit spread
* Hershey kisses (optional)
* Whipped cream (optinal)
Combine ingredients well and place into a Ziploc bag. We will use this as a piping bag to frost our masterpieces shortly.
Once the cakes are cool…
Once the cakes are done and cooled, use a heart shape shaped cookie cutter to create heart-shaped pieces of cake. Add the heart cakes to your serving platter a layer at a time. Generously add raspberry frosting, smooth, then top with another heart layer.
Pipe a swirl of the delicious raspberry frosting on the top of each cake. Then top with a Hershey’s kiss.
Piping I ♥ U!
Warm the remaining chocolate from our large Hershey’s chocolate bar in the microwave with a tablespoon of milk or cream. Using a piping bag or a plastic condiment bottle, pipe I ♥ U on your server plate. Drizzle remaining chocolate over heart-shaped cakes. For something a little extra special, serve with chilled whipped cream.
