Hi Loves!
Christmas Eve is my favorite day of the year, I love it even more than Christmas Day itself.
Ever since I was a wee one, I would make an hour by hour plan of how my day would be mapped out. It would start like "7am - Wake up. 7:05 - Get dressed" and in all honesty, although it's not quite so strict and detailed as it once was, I still have a Christmas Eve plan full of everything I need to do (and even includes scheduled hot chocolate and mince pie breaks!)
Today is my Nana's birthday (she's 80!) and so a scheduled trip to see her is definitely on the cards. Another bittersweet birthday today as it is her first birthday without my Papa who passed away in February as I mentioned back then. We all miss Papa terribly and him not being here has put a huge dampener on this Christmas. There's not much we wouldn't give to have him here but we know he'll be with us, celebrating in spirit.
The rest of the day consists of helping with veg for dinner tomorrow and cleaning in amongst darting around the house trying to stop my cats from either eating the turkey or ripping my newly wrapped gifts to shreds. I've already had to pick a Christmas tree up from the floor yesterday so today should be fun (why do they get so excited?! I love them for it really!)
My Dad and sister Katy are in town this afternoon picking up last minute bits and bobs and so when they come home, we'll grab some dinner and head out to church at 7pm for a carol concert. When we get home, we'll put out a carrot for the reindeer and a mince pie for Santa and head to bed at an early time so we're all fresh for tomorrow.
Christmas Eve is literally the perfect day. How are you spending it?
