Eggnog is something I have never tried, until recently. I always wanted to try it but the fact it was called 'EGGnog' always put me off slightly, for some reason I thought it was a lot more egg based than it actually is. Am I the only one who thought that?
Here's what you'll need;-
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup cream
- 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3/4 cup rum or brandy
Instructions:
- Add the milk, Nutmeg, Cinnamon & Vanilla into a large saucepan and bring to a slight boil on a low heat.
- In a seperate bowl, combine the eggs and sugar and beat or whisk until light, white and fluffy.
- Once complete, combine the milk formula into the large bowl and stir. Empty all of the ingredients back into the saucepan and keep on a low heat for a few minutes. Do not allow to boil though!
- Allow it to cool for an hour or two before adding in the cream & alcohol before stirring.
- Pour the mixture into your glasses and grate some nutmeg & chocolate over the top and add a cinnamon stick if you like. Put them in the fridge overnight to allow the flavours to infuse!
