BirchBox Unwrapped! - September 2013

By Makeupguineapig @MakeUpGuineaPig
I feel like these subscription boxes arrive a few days later each month. Now that I finally have September's BirchBox in hand and have had a chance to take some pictures, I thought I'd share the contents with you...again! :)

The first item I noticed is from Racinne. I know nothing about this brand, so I can't tell you about their animal testing policies. This is a decent sized sample of their Ultimate Youth Power Eye Serum. It contains plant stem cell technology to fight fine lines and dark circles. Just what I need!!! Assuming that the tube isn't mostly air, this should last enough time to actually try it too! Way to go BirchBox! :)

Next up, we have another great size sample. Unfortunately for us cruelty-free people, it is from Benefit Cosmetics and they sell in China. I'd actually be somewhat excited about this if Benefit was cruelty-free. I should say what it is, huh? :) It is the Sugarbomb Ultra Plush Lip Gloss. Really nice size sample of a not-so-animal-friendly product. :/

The next product I am actually excited about because I've wanted to try it for ages! It is from Juice Beauty and it is the Green Apple Peel Sensitive. It is a peel that uses fruit-derived acids to eliminate dead skin and I've heard good things about it. Looking forward to testing this out! :) Thank you BirchBox...for once!

On to the little pouch that often holds perfume and foil packets [shudder]. I was pleasantly surprised this month! The first item is a nail polish from Ruffian. This is the first collection of polishes from the company, and I received the shade "Delirium" which is a beautiful deep royal purple. Very nice!

And finally, there is a sort-of eco-friendly foil-like packet of Coola Tinted Matte SPF 30 for Face. I would have been more excited about this if I hadn't already received it from another service. I have tried it and it's a nice sunscreen, but has very little in the tint department. It definitely doesn't even my skin tone much and I don't think I could justify the $36 price tag without more coverage. It's a decent sample though, so I'm not complaining!

There was not a lifestyle extra this month (thank goodness!) so that's the end of the unboxing! Overall, this was a pretty good box - as long as you're not interested in only cruelty-free items. Everything is a pretty nice size and there is a nice variety of products. No hair care either, which I feel like I've had a lot of lately and I'm glad to have a break. Looks like BirchBox is slightly improving lately, so that's nice. I'm still not sure how much longer I'll continue my subscription though. But for this month, BirchBox stepped it up a bit! :)
