Having lost his father to Pancreatic Cancer when he was only 5 years old, Benjamin notes on his website that research into Pancreatic Cancer has made little headway in recent years and the survival rates for people who have the condition are not great. His website says that for patients with a pancreatic cancer diagnosis:
)The one year survival rate is 25%.
)The five year survival rate is a mere 6%.
)Although the fourth largest cancer killer in this country, pancreatic cancer receives a mere 2% of federal cancer funding.
)Most devastating of all, the survival rates have not changed in forty years.
