Bending Reality: Don’t Wait For the How – Do It Now

Are you one of those people who have learned to think outside the box, to color outside the lines? From a very early age, I've done that. More often, I've challenged reality and authority by trying to erase the boxes and lines that I saw as only impediments to my own journey. I still hold the belief that no one other than me knows how to create my future. At the end of my life, I'm sure someone will play " I Did it My Way."

With that backdrop, I was delighted to have the opportunity to read "Bending Reality." Authored by Victoria Song, Bending Reality reminded me that my life path has always been gracefully easy when I allowed it to flow and unfold. Not submitting to the will of "others," but not forcing the will of my mind or ego, either. Relaxing into the journey and truly enjoying it. Letting it unfold. Most recently, I was reminded of all this as I sat with a friend at lunch. Still reeling from a lost relationship, my heart and soul whispered aloud - "what if I fell in love with life?" Life, in turn, is now sending abundant love right back at me.

Bending Reality is simply juicy with magic. A magic that, if you get it and make the choice to embrace it, you'll experience profound differences in your thinking, and your life. As Victoria so perfectly summarized, you just might hear yourself say "Holy shit! I'm fucking alive!"

There's an excerpt below from the book. But trust me, get the book and read it. It's truly delicious! Start bending your reality.

There is a high degree of indifference, boredom, and compromise on the planet created by people who are not doing what they would truly love to be doing. Richard Rudd shares that most first learn this in school; they learn to associate work with boredom and effort instead of enjoyment and enthusiasm. This contagious compromise becomes a habit, tames their spirit, and takes them further away from their full potential. As adults, they make all sorts of excuses for not pursuing what they want, and once that excuse isn't true anymore, they find another one.

"Now's not a good time, I need to make a certain amount of money first." "Now's not a good time, I'm going to start planning to have a family." "Now's not a good time, I just had a baby." "Now's not a good time, my partner is going up for a big promotion." "Now's not a good time, the world is in a lot of uncertainty." "Now's not a good time, my kids need me."

It has nothing to do with time. It has everything to do with making yourself a victim of fear. Feel whatever is in the way of your dream. Do not downplay how much you want your dream. Let yourself truly feel what it stirs in your heart. The moment you claim your dreams, you'll find yourself at the right place at the right time.

Things happen in no time at all. Once you own your dream, you activate your path: the stepping stones reveal themselves to you one by one. Your path only requires you to take the next step that's visible to you, trusting the one after that will appear just in time. Do not wait for the how. The how will not be revealed to you until you're walking toward your dream. You create your path as you walk it.

The how is always way more magical than the mind could have planned. I see it as a scavenger hunt, where each time I take bold action toward my dream, I receive the next clue. You cannot just think and feel your dream, you must also take aligned action toward it. The more you follow your heart, the easier it gets to listen to it. You enter a new current. Momentum builds. You expand exponentially when you listen. When you deny your heart, you contract and wear down your health. Your mind tends to confirm later what the heart already knows. Follow your heart to find your destiny.

When we are in our truth, we are expanded and in flow. When we're not in truth, we struggle and are taught to expect struggle. We almost do not trust what comes easily to us. We usually undervalue our natural gifts and talents because of this. In other words, we often undervalue our natural self and go off striving. The challenge is that there are so many mental justifications, such as, "But I have to do this in order to make a good living" to override the body's contrac- tion that most cannot tell how they're lying to themselves. Their mental model justifies their worldview and becomes self-fulfilling. If they expect "no pain, no gain," then they'll have plenty of where that came from.

This is your life. Everyone and everything benefits from you living it. Everyone and everything suffers from you making excuses for not living it. The repression of your dreams cuts you off from your life force energy and puts you in a sleepy state of indifference, compro- mise, and boredom or in a reactive state of anger, resentment, and denial. In other words, it puts you in contraction. Your dreams are sacred. Keep them close and nurture them. You must believe in them while giving them space to grow and turn out differently than you imagined. If you hold your dreams tightly, attached to how they take form, then you will limit their possibilities to your narrow concepts. Follow your dreams from a place of expansion.

My clients and I create new dreams on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. We spend time visioning clearly before we take any action. We check for congruence in beliefs, emotions, and imagination. From here, we take action.

We each have a dream within us that only we can bring to life, and we're here to realize it.
