Beauty Pie • 'Makeup' Without the 'Markup'

By Kellilash @Kellilash

Question: Would you rather pay £20 for a high end lipstick or £2.24? I think I know your answer so in that case keep reading! This blog post has been a long time coming as a few months ago I was let into a very exciting secret and was given the opportunity to try a very new concept that has shaken up the beauty world as we know it. If you haven't already heard about them, let me tell you all about Beauty Pie.

Beauty Pie is amonthly membership (NOT a subscription!) that brings it's members the Best Beauty Products at FACTORY COSTYes, you read that correctly. No Mumbo-jumbo, no middleman, no markups, simply a Private Buyers Club for Beauty Addicts (i.e. you). You get to choose what you want, when you want, unlike a subscription.

Beauty Pie

Bought to us by the founder of Soap & Glory and BLISS SPA, a team of beauty obsessives who have been in the industry for a good while discussed how expensive it is today buying luxury makeup. So they created a buyers club for beauty addicts. Their mission is to go and source the best in beauty from around the world using global suppliers and to provide them at a factory cost. Beauty Pie have no middlemen to pay and don't have to skimp on ingredients so it is within 'budget' as we all know we do get ripped off a lot in todays beauty world.
For only £10 a month you can choose luxury cosmetics with no hidden costs so that all you are paying for is the product alone plus a shipping cost around £2.99, delivering to UK and mainland USA with more countries being added as we speak when demand hits! Here is how it all works in more detail ...

What's the catch? I asked myself the same question but in truth, there isn't one. Beauty Pie are pulling together the collective buying of thousands of beauty junkies (i.e. us) giving us a pass to laying our hands on luxury goods. You can shop when you want, ship when you want.A monthly allowance? Every membership comes with a monthly allowance of £100 which limits how much regular price value you can buy at factory cost every month. Any unused allowance rolls over and adds up so you don't lose it. Theses allowances are in place so that every member gets the opportunity to buy. Your allowance is calculated at the 'regular cost' but you then purchase at the 'factory cost'. Buying even though you are not a member? If you are not sure about signing up then you can still purchase items but at the 'regular price' which is calculated at the competitive price in the current market place for a product of this standard. But why would you want to when you can cancel your membership at any time should you not be satisfied? Win win!

Beauty Pie

I was kindly sent a mix of products that made my day to receive as well as a three month membership so I can order more items and report back further on the new launches as they come in over the next few months. I can obviously report now my first impressions on what you can expect from the Beauty Pie make-up line ....

First things first, I was very impressed with the sleek, stylish black packaging and it arrived boxed up beautifully. Top marks for image and for feeling very luxe. On first feel, each item feels very light weight. This is because Beauty Pie have not added weights to their products like other high brands do to make it feel 'expensive'. No fancy caps or packaging making it simple and more friendly to the environment. This I like.

I received a fabulous booklet that explained everything in perfect detail. The costs of the product are broken down (as above) so you can see exactly where each penny goes ... this concept, I really like!

Beauty Pie, Great skin foundation, Fair 200

Beauty Pie, Great skin foundation, Fair 200

• Great Skin Foundation 30ml, Shade 200 Fair (Members £5.06/Non-Members £30.00)
Designed to give flawless looking skin. A lightweight fluid infused with high-tech micro pearls for a melt away feel, delivering a soft focus. No caking, not too pigmented so very blendable with an even coverage.

I instantly thought Bobbi Brown when I first saw this as it not only has the same kind of look but it does indeed feel morehigh end then high street. I was pleasantly surprised by this as  I am so very fussy when it comes to foundation as we all have our holy grail favourites. The shade matches my skin tone perfectly which again made me very happy as there is nothing worse than trying a new base that does not match your skin properly as it's hard to 'like' but this was spot on. It blended so easily and gave a medium, yet naturally flawless looking coverage and looks so lovely on the skin. This is perfect for anyone looking for a really affordable, yet luxurious everyday foundation and I would indeed purchase this one myself as it is a beautiful product.

Beauty Pie, One Powder Wonder

Beauty Pie, One Powder Wonder

Beauty Pie, One Powder Wonder

One Powder Wonder (Members £3.68/Non-Members £26.00)

A universal powder which claims to be NOT just another translucent and is micro fine, light, practically invisible, naked in finish, absorbs shine, blurs and promotes radiance. It blends makeup, disguises fine lines, hides large pores, protects against dehydration and never cakes. Bold claims hey?

I was very dubious at first when I felt this but I do have agree, it does indeed live up to it's description as this is probably the finest powder I have ever felt, to the point that I didn't feel like I was picking any up at all. I had to keep swirling my brush over and over as I felt it was not coming off! That is indeed how fine the texture is (see above!). It's definitely more of a blotting powder as opposed to a finishing powder in my opinion and a fantastic dupe to MAC's Prep&Prime translucent powder compact so if you need blotting then try this one. A great powder to keep your skin shine free without the cakey-ness and great for blending out any makeup mistakes so this is perfect for us all.

Beauty Pie, Uber Volume mascara

Beauty Pie, Uber Volume mascara

• Uber Volume Boost Mascara (Members £1.93/Non-Members £20.00)
A volumising, lengthening and thickening collagen infused big lash mascara. With a collagen tri-peptide formula this is designed to give you flexible, stronger, glossy looking lashes.

Trying a new mascara is always an exciting yet anxious task as we all know that feeling of 'will this be the one' and we all have different favourites whether it be high end or low end. I instantly noticed how glossy this was which I really liked as it generally means it won't dry out too quickly. The wand coats and circles the lashes nicely and I do love a mascara that does all in one. Very voluminous so be careful not to go crazy as it could then look clumpy, gave nice definition and is certainly is a really good everyday mascara. It wasn't 'the one' but for the price (£1.93!!!!!) this is totally worth trying!

Beauty Pie, Cowboy Nude Lipstick and Sugar Bun Lipgloss

Beauty Pie, Cowboy Nude Lipstick and Sugar Bun Lipgloss

Beauty Pie, Cowboy Nude Lipstick and Sugar Bun Lipgloss

Futurelipstick Matte in Cowboy Nude (Members £2.24/Non-Members £20.00)A lightweight, hydrating matte lipstick with instant color and a moisturising, smoothing formula rich in antioxidants. Now this I love. As you may know I am a huge lipstick addict so I was not expecting too much seeing as high end lipsticks are very much my thing but this fits along side them just fine! The Beauty Pie embossment into the bullet makes this feel very high end and the texture is superb. It glides on with great pigment and even though matte, its very hydrating and non drying. A beautiful nude shade that will suit many and I already feel an order for more lipsticks coming on so definitely worth the membership for these alone!• Superglazy Lip Gloss in Sugar Bun (Members £2.16/Non-Members £19.00)A one part balm and three parts luminosity formulated with a hybrid gel-oil cushion matrix and an infusion of lotus flower and antioxidants. Again, totally lives up to the description as these gloss are gorgeous. They smell like vanilla, are non sticky and have a superb slanted lip shaped applicator that applies perfectly to your lips. They certainly feel very high end and remind me of my holy grail Clarins Lip Perfector's. It pairs so well with so many nude, brown  or pink lip shades. Both of these lip products have seriously impressed me.

So, is Beauty Pie worth signing up to?? YES.The branding is spot on and feels very high end in my opinion and holds it own alongside other high end brands. The concept is great and this really does make a nice change from a subscription service as you can't grumble that you dislike something because you ordered it. A great way for people to build up a make-up collection or professionals that need to build a kit, the savings are huge doing it this way plus you get a reply nice product. For me the products that really stood out was the foundation and the lip products as they really did impress me. I cant wait to get ordering a few more! Stay tuned to my Instagram where I shall share my new Beauty Pie additions as I add to my collection with my gifted three month Membership - what a great gift to give and to receive?! Beauty Pie ships to the UK and Mainland USA with more countries being added as demand hits so do check them out here ... Have you tried Beauty Pie?
