Battle of the Detangling Hair Brushes – LADY JAYNE TANGLEZE v SHAUN P. TANGLE TEEZER

By Triedandtestedblogger @triedtestedblog

Hi everyone,

Today I’ll be reviewing the Lady Jayne Tangleze*. This is one of the latest releases from Lady Jayne and is quite similar in design and nature to the ever popular Shaun P. Tangle Teezer. The Lady Jane Tangleze is a great affordable, compact detangling hair brush that is recommended by hairdressers and utilizes flexi-glide technology for easy detangling on wet and dry hair.

Taking a look at the Lady Jayne version, it features a more compact size compared to the Tangle Teezer and I find it much easier to hold comfortably in the palm of my hand because it is smaller. The Lady Jane Tangleze is made with thicker plastic and is slightly heavier than the Tangle Teezer. While the Tangle Teezer has an almost curved rectangular shape, the Lady Jane Tangleze is a simple oval shape.

When I first purchased the Shaun P. Tangle Teezer, they had not yet released a version with a lid, though they do now offer a version with it. The Lady Jane Tangleze offers a secure lid and I think this is a wonderful feature to have. Because it is smaller in size, it’s much more convenient to place in the handbag and take it out with you as the lid really ensures that not only are the bristles of the brush protected but also that anything else in your handbag isn’t damaged from the brush.

The bristles on both the brushes are designed much the same, with the same distance between the bristles and a mixture of 2 lengths of bristles – short and long. The biggest difference I found in terms of the bristles of both brushes is that the Lady Jane Tangleze features stiffer bristles than the Tangle Teezer.

When using both to detangle/brush hair, I have to say that the Tangle Teezer does do a better job. It allows you glide through the hair whilst it detangles and removes any knots and it leaves the hair smooth and soft with little hair fallout. When using the Lady Jane Tangleze, while it does detangle the hair well, I find that it doesn’t work as effectively as its competitor and so you have to run it through your hair a few times to achieve the knot free result. Again, there wasn’t excessive hair fallout or pain from tugging the hair but it just didn’t work quite as well as the Tangle Teezer does. Because the Tangle Teezer is larger, it also covers more hair and therefore, is able to do the job quicker.

If you’re looking for a convenient hair brush just to do some light brushing throughout the day, then I think the Lady Jane Tangleze is perfect because its compact, easy to travel with and does a nice job. If you’re looking for a brush to use at home to detangle your hair, then I’d recommend you go with the Tangle Teezer.

The Lady Jayne Tangleze retails for $12.99 and can be purchased from Priceline, Big W, Target, Kmart and select pharmacies.
