When it comes to doing my eyebrows for an average day, I always reach for a brow gel because they’re not only quick and easy to use but there are also some amazing products out there that will deliver on pigmentation, grooming and adding thickness to the brows!
I’ve previously reviewed and swatched the Rimmel London Brow This Way* range here but as a quick recap, this gel provides a natural yet sculpted look with its pigmented formula and large brush. While the formula doesn’t contain fibers to mimic brow hairs, it does well at filling in gaps and will give the illusion of a slightly thicker brow as a whole. The brush can tend to hold a lot of product so be sure to wipe it down before brushing through your brows but this brow gel works well alone or applied on top of another brow product.
I picked up the ModelCo More Brows during a recent sale as I noticed just how much it reminded me of Benefit’s Gimme Brow and wanted to see if it was a dupe! The tinted formula features fibers which help thicken as well as fill in any sparse patches in your brows. With a small, easy to use brush, applying the product is very easy and you’re able to really sculpt the brow to a sleek finish. Like the Benefit Gimme Brow, this brow gel is one that delivers on a lot of elements but I found that it left my brows slightly crunchier and a little dry looking compared to it’s pricier counterpart.
The Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow has been a holy grail and staple of mine for years. It’s something I’ve repurchased again and again but it is more on the pricier side which is why I’ve been on the hunt for a more affordable alternative. The brush is shaped well and very small which allows you to really work through all the brow hairs and allow the fibers in the formula to adhere your hairs, adding colour, texture, thickness and volume. This brow gel definitely does it all, all while shaping and grooming the brows to perfection, leaving them still quite natural looking and feeling light.
If you’re after a brow gel that is light and will groom the brows instead of necessarily thickening them up or providing coverage, the Maybelline New York Brow Drama is fantastic! Whilst it does provide the lightest coverage out of all the 4 gels featured, if your brows are naturally thick or shaped well and you’re just looking for something to brush through to groom and hold them in place, this type of brow gel is just what you need! I also reach for this brow gel if I’ve already filled in my brows with a brow pencil or brow gel to add some texture and dimension back into my brows.
Overall, Benefit’s Gimme Brow is my favorite brow gel because it does it all with quick and easy application. My brows are left looking filled in, thicker, groomed but still natural. For an affordable version/dupe of that product, the ModelCo More Brows does a fantastic job, however if you’re looking for a brow gel to more-so tint or groom the brows, go for the Rimmel London Brow This Way. If your brows are naturally thick and shaped well or if you’re looking for a gel to add texture and dimension to the brow after filling it in with another product, the Maybelline New York Brow Drama does the job perfectly!
