Summary:
The bottle doesn’t say a great deal about the result that you will get from the nail polish unfortunately, but you really do have to try it out to see the kind of results that this nail polish will give you. The bottle only really says that you should apply a base coat, and I would recommend this for most gold nail polishes as sometimes they can stain your nails yellow. I’ve also put on a top coat after 1 day of wear because even though I’ve not had any chips yet, I do want this nail polish to last because it’s so pretty. I’m using a Barry M base and top coat and have still got perfect nails and no chips at all. This is extremely rare for me, so I’m thrilled at the staying power of the nail polish so far. I was also impressed with how quickly it dried – the first layer dried completely within a couple of minutes, and the second layer didn’t cause the polish to turn to sludge when applying within 10 minutes of the top coat. Both layers dried within about 5-6 minutes and that’s a huge plus point for me as I don’t have the time or desire to sit around waiting for my nails to dry.
I’m hugely impressed that this nail polish was free, but even at £3.99 I think it makes for exceptionally good value for money. The Barry M nail polishes are 10ml and last for a long time, both from the pot and on your nails, so this small bottle could last you a long time if you seal it correctly. The nail polishes now come with 2 small metal balls which you can shake around to prevent your polish from drying or separating, which is such a simple and excellent idea. The only thing I don’t like about the Gold XMAS LE 2012-A is that it’s a limited edition bottle; because I genuinely think it’s one I could happily use daily, all year round. It’s subtle enough to wear for work, but sparkly enough to wear on a night out or a special occasion. I love it! I hope Barry M find it in their hearts to make it a permanent fixture! Failing that, it’s time for me to stock up!
