Summary:
I’m absolutely terrible when it comes to eyeliner. If I get both my eyes to look relatively similar it’s a miracle, so on that rare occasion when I’m happy with my eye make up I want it to last, which is why I chose to try out the Barry M Bold Black Waterproof Eyeliner.
And wow is this eyeliner bold! I’m quite a fan of those eyeliners that come out quite pale so you build it up by going over the same patch 2 or 3 times because if I make a mistake it’s easy to rectify. This Barry M Bold Black Waterproof Eyeliner takes no prisoners! One quick application and this eyeliner really is bold, very black and it’s there to stay. That’s one big tick for the eyeliner, so the next thing I wanted to try out was it’s waterproof abilities.
I say I wanted to try this out, but really Mother Earth decided to test it for me using the medium of heavy rain. It didn’t quite hold up, and I found that I had smudged half moon shapes below my eyebrows. It looked ridiculous, to be frank, but I found that I still got the smudged marks even without the buckets of rain pouring from the heavens.
I’m not sure if it’s because the eyeliner is quite wet/soft or if I hadn’t given it time to dry properly, but I noticed that I didn’t get those marks on my eyelids if I did a really thin line along above my eyelashes, or if I pat some powder foundation/eye shadow lightly on top of the eyeliner, but that kind of goes against the whole ‘bold’ marketing of this product.
Barry M have always been my go-to brand because they’re cheap and usually the quality is much better than the price would suggest. This eyeliner was £2.99, but I don’t feel I can use it reliably. It does stay looking bold throughout the day, but I’m end up getting slightly paranoid about the smudges so it’s just not worth it for me. Doh!
