Baby Scream & Eze Gruber: Loco Club 2023

Argentinian power pop musician Juan Pablo Mazzola has a soft spot for the intimate Loco Club in his place orf residence, Valenica. He has played there a lot, so it made that some of it was recorded for live EP by his Baby Scream project. He was joined on stage by keyboard player Eze Gruber for a set of originals and a couple of covers. Loco Club 2023 features three tracks from his latest album Castell de Pop.

With a healthy extra dose of reverb and echo, especially during The Hurt and the Weak, the tracks have an urgency that can only be accomplished in concert. They even managed to breathe new life into Bill Withers' Ain't No Sunshine, a song that has been tackled to Hell and back. The electronics driven make-over of The Cars' classic Drive will appeal to fans of Tears for Fears. The EP's closer, a studio version of Everybody's Got to Learn Sometime, ain't half bad either.

Loco Club 2023 is a self-released EP. Buy it from his website.
