Item numero uno is an All In One Hair Treatment from uniqONE. They call it a Leave-In Spray Mask. The super skinny bottle claims that it has 10 real effects: it repairs dry and damaged hair, provides shine and controls frizz, provides heat protection, adds silkiness and smoothness, protects hair color with UVA/UVB filters, allows for easier brushing and ironing, it detangles, it promotes longer lasting hairstyles, prevents split ends, and adds body. Whew! I have no idea if it's possible for one product to all of those things, but I think I would love it if it did! :) It has a rather strong, kind of floral scent to it that I'm not sure I like, but it's not unbearable either. As for animal testing, I have no idea if this company is cruelty-free or not.
Next is a product from Whish. It is simply called the Coconut Milk Correcting Gel. Highly descriptive there. The lovely little tube is not very helpful because it just says that it repairs, clarifies and soothes. So, I looked at the BirchBox description to determine that it is an anti-aging after-sun gel that targets wrinkles, unevenness, dryness and sun damage. Just what I don't need! :) I'm rarely in the sun and need an after-sun gel even less frequently. I almost wish I were in the sun more because this stuff smells so so good! I wish it were just a standard old body lotion. It's a good size sample though, so that's good. Again, I'm not sure about the cruelty-free status, but I suspect it is a cruelty-free company.
I'm gonna leave the best for last and move on the my favorite kind of item. That's right - foil packets!!! :) There are two little itty bitty foil packets of the Vitamin E Face Moisturizer from (Malin+Goetz). Eh. It is an oil-free formula that contains hyaluronic acid and Vitamin E, and it is suitable for all skin types. Eh. Not moved to excitement in any way, shape or form on this one. It's enough product for maybe two uses, which is not enough time to test a moisturizer in my opinion. Yet again, I don't know if (Malin+Goetz) is cruelty-free or not.
For the "Lifestyle Extra," there is another foil packet (though the packaging makes sense for what's inside). It is another item from Whish. It is a super exciting Hair Inhibiting Deodorant Swipe. Apparently this little wipe is supposed to keep you from stinking while slowing hair growth. I guess that's interesting, but not something I'd ever run out to buy. As always, I shall not hold the Lifestyle Extra against BirchBox because it's technically a bonus. Besides, it might be kind of interesting to try, but one wipe is not going to convince me of its magic.
Now for the one thing that really made this box worth while to me - in fact, it made me happy and excited! It's full size for starters. It is a Mally Beauty Evercolor Waterproof Eyeliner in the shade "Sailor," which is a gorgeous deep navy blue! I love this eyeliner! The color is so beautiful. It is a deep navy blue that is totally wearable for every day, but when it catches the light, it really reflects the beauty of the blue. The formula seems really nice too. It's very creamy, yet sets to be pretty much budge-proof. Though I could get the swatch to rub off of my hand with enough pressure, it didn't really smudge. I'm not sure that makes sense, but the color kind of came off with a fair amount of work, but without traveling out of the area in which it was applied. I'm really excited to test out this liner and I am really, really happy with the shade. Thank you BirchBox...for a change! :)
So there you have the contents of my August BirchBox. What do you think? Do you subscribe to BirchBox and, if so, what goodies did you receive this month? If you're interested in getting your own BirchBox, you can click my affiliate link here, or just visit their website. Hope you enjoyed this month's BirchBox! They're slowly making some very minor improvements, but they still have a ways to go to catch up to some other services out there. Overall though, I am satisfied with this month's box, so no complaints...this month! :) Until next month...!!!
