The draw is fun with several great looking 1st rounds ties including Tsonga vs. Hewitt, Stahovsky vs. Stepanek, Nalbandian vs. Tipsarevic, Murray vs. Davydenko and a fun looking Dolgopolov vs. Bogomolov.
Roddick will have some more confidence after picking up a grass court title and we will hopefully see Nalbandian on best behavior after his Queens debacle.
Let’s break it down:
Level: Grand Slam
Surface: Grass
Defending Champion: Novak Djokovic – Pressure on the number 1 to perform.
Nasty Floater: Sam Querry – Finding form and could put the scare on everybody.
Veteran Watch: Lleyton ‘Rusty’ Hewitt – Must conjure memories of 2002 if he is to overcome Tsonga in round 1
Up and Coming: Oliver Golding – Young Brit could win his round 1 against Andreev and get some excitement going.
Slumping: Andy Murray – Barely time on the grass to get going and gets a bad draw. Hard times.
On Fire: Tommy ‘Gun’ Haas – Tough opener against PK but could stay on grass court roll.
My pick: Milos Raonic – Taking a flyer on Baby Face this year if he stays fit and the big 3 falter.
Did You Know? If Federer wins the title, he returns to number 1 and ties Sampras’ record of weeks at the top.
