ATP Picks: US Open, Queens NY

US Open, Queens NY

The Big 3 are all looking to take the biggest bite out of the Big Apple and all have reason to think that. Federer and Murray are set to meet in the semi-finals without too much trouble, while Djokovic looks to have a trickier draw with Del Potro in this half, whom he lost to at the Olympics.

Let’s break it down:

ATP Level: Grand Slam

Surface: Outdoor Hard

Defending Champion:
Novak Djokovic - Regained form in Toronto and Cincinnati, and will be marginal favorite here.

Nasty Floater: David ‘The Boffin’ Goffin – The slight Belgian, could give Berdych a fright 1st round.

Veteran Watch:
David Nalbandian – The way his year is going, this could be the last GS we see David at.

Up and Coming: Steve Johnson – The American gets a wildcard and a horrible draw as well, with Haas, Gasquet and Ferrer.

Slumping: Andy Roddick – Time for a run or thoughts of retirement beckon. Could run into Del Potro 4th round.

On Fire: John Isner – Defended his Winston-Salem title from a tough field. No one will want to play him,

My pick: Roger Federer – His form notwithstanding, the painful memories of the last 2 years should be enough motivation to correct the balance.

Did You Know? The US Open began in 1881!
