Antiquity

By Mike Bullock

I praise, surrounded by the things
That mean so much to me
I'm happy in antiquity
As you can plainly see
So when the patterns changing
It is insulting me
I'm sure God doesn't like
What's going on.

I'm wrapped up in the thing's of old
They've always stood the test
And for the sake of history
I'm trying to do my best
How dare they brush the cobwebs
Off the things that I love best
I'm adamant that things stay as they are.

Where does God come into this
Have I consulted Him?
He's quite a busy God, you know
I'm representing Him
And if I ask Him what He wants
The answer might be grim
So I will carry on my blissful way.
God is for the people
Of every age and class
Always moving, ever prompting
Taking us to task
Wanting to move forward
He'll make the wineskin new
There's no place for antiquity
And that means me and you.
